It is normal to be concerned about what good legal advice might cost, and it is difficult to provide you with any guidance on likely costs until the scope of your needs is known. What is certain is that lawyers’ fees must be reasonable, and oversight of charges is provided by the New Zealand Law Society.
You are entitled to ask for an estimate, and be advised if that will be exceeded, and if you instruct me through your solicitor that person will also review my fee on your behalf. I will always be open with you about fees.
