Increasingly, natural justice and fair process requires that issues be thoroughly investigated by a person with no interest in the outcome. This may be in an employment context (eg an employee makes a bullying complaint), or it may arise in other areas (eg customer complaints).
I am experienced in this developing area, having conducted investigations, and assisted military Courts of Enquiry, and from sitting on the District Liquor Licensing Committee.
